DEVLOG 6 "MIDTERM MILESTONE 3"

  • which of those 10 things resonates with you? why?

The one that resonates with me the most might be the "I have no idea what I’m doing. " for some obvious reasons. I tend to see myself as a very new programmer, and as such I am learning new things everyday that help me build games. Even though that is more than frustrating when I can't figure out a problem probably, it also makes added feedback and advice more valuable for me as I continue on learning better code.

  • write a 100-150 word devlog entry about your midterm project

The original mechanic idea is this: a space in which you talk with individual characters to listen to the points of my life they represent.  They will need to be talked to in a specific order, but each will have a decent amount of lines to talk while you 'wait for your order'.
You'll be able to move around and observe some things, but the main mechanic is talking.

The dialogue system is up, I just need to tweak it to my own specifications, the movement is fairly solid, and I'm happy with my creations with Blender, though I'm having some trouble keeping them intact while I export it to Unity. Color materials and shaders might also be an issue, but I'm taking it one issue at a time.

  • what did you do last week?

I mostly did asset development, learning a lot more about Blender and using that to create some pretty neat assets for my game. There might be some glitches here and there from the constant transition from Blender to Unity, but I know a lot more than I did before last week.

  • what are you going to do next? do you have any concerns?

Finish up any coding I have left to do, before I just jump completely into asset making and just polishing the game so that it acts and feels as close to how I envisioned it in my mind.

  • how do you feel about your progress so far?

I was kind of disappointed the assets were slow in their making and took up lots of time, but now I'm proud that I was able to get my dialogue system up and running after so long. I'm hoping that because of that, I'll have more time to polish the game so that it looks really nice to go along with the dialogue.
